As a collective garden, we aim to nurture an intergenerational and intercultural space rooted in decolonial values.Through the practice of growing Asian and Indigenous herbs and vegetables, we provide a space dedicated to community-led activities and empower marginalized communities such as seniors, Asian, and Indigenous peoples
through hands-on knowledge exchange.
Our name reflects the spirit of connection and respect that defines the garden.

things that we've been working on or that have been happening at the garden
These last months have been feeling quite unstable at the Kahéhtaien Jardin Lumb, your local Asian-Indigenous collective garden situated in Montreal's Chinatown. For the past three years, the lot has been leased to the garden by the City of Montreal under a temporary lease set to end in December 2026. At the same time, the site has been put up for sale and is being considered for off-market housing development. In other words, this garden, which has become a beloved gathering space for the Chinatown community, may be displaced as soon as an off-market housing project is approved. We need your support to help protect this space.

We are offering individuals or groups the opportunity to propose an activity for our upcoming season. We are accepting both one-time news (ex. a collective cooking or traditional medecine workshop, a movement or popular education activity, etc.) and recurring news (ex. a tai chi or knitting night every Tuesday).
